The Truth About Taking Advantage Of The Services Of Discount Brokers

In selling a property, every penny counts just like in any other business. This is what makes it hard especially if this is your first time. There are a lot of factors to consider making sure you are making the right move.

What other homeowners do to ensure they are on the right side, they hire professional help in selling their property. They hire real estate agents to guide them. They will do a great job in listing your property in multiple listing services and brochures. They can also help you stage your home to a make an appealing home. In some instances, they help you find the perfect professional photographer to get you a good picture of your property. These agents however do not come for free. They charge 5 to 7 % of the total sales of the house.

Because of this, there are homeowners who are selling their own property or taking the FSBO (for-sale-by-owner) route to rid of that extra charge from the agents. In doing so, they realize they can save as much in selling their house without the aid of these agents. They don’t mind exerting much effort and time just to get the property sold.

There are also homeowners who are taking advantage of the services of discount brokers. The homeowners get the needed help without shelling out that much money compared to hiring professional estate agents. They typically charge 1%. Compared to the 5 to 7 % charge by real estate agents, this is already a significant amount of money saved. So, should you avail of the services of discount brokers?

The only thing about hiring the service of a discount broker aired by some homeowners is the lack of communication and sub-par service. There are also incidences where homeowners are charged with fees they do not know of. There are hidden charges that they collect which concerns sellers. If you take this route, it is important to carefully consider the coverage of the service before saying yes to the service.

These circumstances are real and on-going. This is not to say which strategy would work best because at the end of the day, it is still your personal preference and circumstances that should prevail. It is you who should decide whether you are going to hire a real estate agent, FSBO, or a discount broker.

If you are the type of person who wants no delay and hassles in the work, go for the professional real estate agents. If you don’t mind doing all the work yourself, go for the FSBO route. If you have a little to spare for the success of selling your property in terms of money and time, go for a discount broker.
